Description:

We are seeking 10 enthusiastic and motivated student workers to join our data collection team at various national parks in Utah. This unique opportunity involves interacting directly with park visitors to gather valuable data for a national park visitor satisfaction study. Ideal candidates will have a passion for nature, excellent communication skills, and a friendly demeanor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Approach visitors in a courteous manner at designated national parks.
  • Briefly introduce the purpose of the study to gain participants' interest.
  • Collect email addresses or administer surveys on the spot.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of collected data.
  • Adhere to all park rules and regulations during data collection activities.

Work Schedule and Pay:

  • Data collection will take place over two weekends in May: the first weekend of May (May 3rd, May 4th and 5th) and the Memorial Day weekend (May 24, 25, 26, and 27). Students will be required to travel a day before the data collection starting date and most likely return a day after the data collection ending date.
  • This is a temporary position with an hourly wage of $14.
  • Lodging will be provided during data collection weekends.
  • Transportation costs will be reimbursed based on mileage.

Requirements:

  • Available to attend a mandatory orientation session prior to the data collection weekends.
  • Familiarity with Utah's Mighty 5 National Parks (Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion) is highly preferred, with previous visits to these parks considered a plus.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to use it for travel to national parks (mileage reimbursed).
  • Comfortable approaching and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated reliability, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
